Bike Insurance - A new bike and a DVD could help lower bike insurance premiums - 13/06/2008

Figures from the Highways Agency, show that motorbike riders are thirty-five times more likely to be seriously hurt or injured, on the roads than car drivers. A fact which has meant that bike insurance has remained relatively expensive.

Now Yamaha have launched a new bike they hope will change this. The bike will have an electric start, and an auto transmission as standard, as well as having many of the other features found in more expensive models. The bike is also being hailed as cheaper to run due to its low fuel economy and lower insurance band rating. In addition the highways Agency has released a DVD aimed at bike riders, giving them information on how to keep safe on the roads.

It is hoped that the DVD will help bikers become better drivers which coupled with Yamaha’s new bike should bring down the cost of the insurance premiums.
