A girl suffering from cerebral palsy has been left very distressed after her specially adapted bike was stolen.
The girl in question is a teenager and her bike was stolen from her home garage in Clevedon.
She realised that her bike was missing when her twin sister pointed it out to her. They were leaving their South way Court home for school when the girl’s sister pointed to the open garage door.
The bike was a birthday present to the 14 year old and is a green blue women’s bike that was given to her in September this year.
A student of Clevedon School, the girl has great difficulty using the right side of her body. Her parents had modified her bike specifically to suit her condition and swapped the gears over to make it simpler for her to ride.
The mother of the girl said that when she realised her bike was stolen, she was very upset. It was her only means of transportation around the town as she struggled to walk long distances.
She further added that they would only be able to buy another bike for their daughter depending on whether their bike insurance cover would payout for the theft.
