The Nicholas Soames court case, in which the Conservative MP is due to face safety and insurance charges, has been adjourned to May 14th.
Mr Soames, who is MP for Mid Sussex, was originally set to appear before Crawley magistrates on April 16th but the case has been moved back until next month at the defence’s request.
The charges stem from a New Year’s Day hunt outing in which Soames was captured on camera riding a quad bike on a public road. The film appears to show him towing a trailer carrying several adults and children. None of his passengers look to be wearing safety helmets.
Mr Soames, who is Sir Winston Churchill’s grandson, is accused of breaching the Road Traffic Act and will face charges relating to road safety and driving without bike insurance.
Images of the incident, which were captured by hunt monitors, originally appeared in the Daily Mirror on the 3rd January, only days after a quad bike accident in Blackmore, Essex, claimed the life of a seven year-old girl.
