Taking an extra motorcycle awareness course can help motorcyclists reduce their bike insurance premiums and also increase personal safety, according to an industry expert.
Ian Crowder, Public Relations Manager at AA Insurance said that in recent years, the number of accidents involving motorbikes has increased.
“You can reduce the risk of having an accident by taking a motorcycle awareness course, and taking such courses can reduce your insurance premiums,” Mr Crowder said.
He added: “A bit of caution about the dangers of motorcycling is no bad thing because it enhances your awareness on the road and it will help you to be a little more alert to the fact that you might not be seen immediately by other vehicles.”
The standard motorcycle test is to be updated in September of this year and is to comply with EU standards.
It is recommended that when you purchase bike insurance, you should consider your own needs and ensure you obtain a bike insurance policy that covers them.
Mr Crowder said: “Provided you take the proper precautions and you are observant then there is no reason why you shouldn’t enjoy motorcycling.”
