Most accidents in which motorcycles are involved in the UK are not usually caused by bikers but other drivers, Britain’s biggest bike insurance specialist Carole Nash has claimed.
Basing its argument on its insurance claims data, the firm said whereas bikers are careful drivers, others road users are not so mindful of their presence.
“The Think Twice, Think Bike slogan of yesteryear is still a powerful simple message of advice but which our research suggests is not being heeded,” said Carole Nash’s commercial manager, Simon Jackson.
It also revealed that motorcyclists in Bath suffered the sixth worst rate accidents of any area outside London last year.
Bikers in the city, Carole Nash added, were named highest climber year-on-year in the national accident league table.
The revelation follows its analysis of the accident claims it received last year from among over 230,000 riders that are insured through it.
Bikers living in the BA postcode, according to its annual Carole Nash Motorcycle Accident Survey, were more than twice as likely to be involved in an accident as those in Sunderland - considered the lowest risk area in England.
