A man who drove without bike insurance and crashed his Honda 400cc motorbike into a parked BMW has been remanded in custody.
David Keith Redford was charged with six counts that include dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without necessary insurance cover or licence.
The accident resulted in a woman falling into coma and being abandoned to her fate until a Good Samaritan spotted her and intervened to save her life by using her cell phone to call an ambulance.
Reports said the injured mother of two, Sally Weeks, was a pillion passenger of the bike.
She was said to have recently opened eyes for the first time since the accident at the end of August.
Meanwhile, the family of the victim have launched a campaign to find the Good Samaritan and thank him for saving their daughter’s life.
“We just really want to thank the bloke because without him she wouldn’t even be here,” said Sally’s mother.
