Walkers have come to the aid of a man who was injured in a motorbike accident last summer by raising nearly £1,600 towards his medical bill.
Ryan Burke, 21, suffered serious head injuries in the crash while on holiday in Thailand and reports said he has since then contracted meningitis twice while recovering.
He was said to have spent seven weeks in a hospital accumulating a bill of £16,500.
But his insurer declined covering his bill because they claimed his policy did not include bike insurance.
However, Ryan’s former school mate, Nicola Summer, on learning about his plight organised a sponsored walk to raise money to off set the medical bills.
Reports said up to 35 people took part in the walk and a total of £1,595 was raised.
The cheque was presented to Ryan’s mum, Gaynor Clarke, by Miss Summer.
And she expressed her delight for being able to raise so much for Ryan, even as she thanked everyone that took part in the walk.
