Motorcyclists driving without valid bike insurance policies in Vietnam will now face hard times as the government is set to impose heavy fines on uninsured bikers in the country.
A report revealed that the fine will amount to nearly $6 (about £3), while motorbike insurance would normally cost just a little over $3 (about £2) for a year.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese bikers who purchased new bikes and were reminded by sellers to take out a cover as it was part of the registration process do not bother to renew the policy afterwards.
“I’ve had the bike for three years and I’ve never renewed the insurance. I’ve heard getting compensation after an accident is really complicated,” said one biker, who’s clearly unaware of the advantages of being insured.
But some do, as another motorbike driver said he was aware that he could be compensated in the event of an accident if he was insured and that encouraged him to get a bike cover for bike motorbike.
