A man who rode a bike that was held together by bootlaces at the break-neck speed of 143mph has been jailed.
Michael Robillard, 23, had neither driving licence nor bike insurance for his Suzuki 600.
But the motorbike had a loose seat and no engine oil, while both pedals and a fender were hanging off.
According to a report it also had bald and bubbled tyres, just as nuts and bolts of the wrong sizes held pieces of the bike together.
Despite the horrifying condition of the vehicle, which had been converted for racing, Robillard still rode at more than twice the permitted speed in a 70mph zone.
He was said to have ignored “panicking” road workers who waved in horror to try and stop him as he sped past them on the A380 near Exeter in Devon.
Police recorded themselves at 143mph chasing him and eventually gave up because it was too dangerous.
The biker was jailed 10 months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving without licence or insurance cover and failing to stop.
