Cambridgeshire residents have started to pull their hair out, after a spate of groups riding mini motos have disturbed the tranquil peace.
The tiny motorbikes have become a modern-day annoyance and have blighted the lives of people in the community.
Across the Cambridge area, there has been a total of 1,853 reports, with Littleport being the worst, at 71 reports.
Many of the bikers do not have bike insurance. As a result, the police are taking a zero-tolerance stance on the ordeal and are approaching anyone who is driving the machines dangerously.
Community campaigner Lil Speed, of Kendal Way, Chesterton, said: “They are so annoying and just go round and round and round making a terrible noise. It's only kids on them and they have no bike insurance. But if you call police they don't come out. We have no protection and they are really dangerous.”
Police have issued a warning to the mini-moto riders who ignore the law. A spokeswoman said: “Those who ride mini-motorbikes illegally are being warned they will have their bikes confiscated if they continue to break the law.
“Under the Police Reform Act 2002, police have the power to seize mini-motorbikes, or any other such vehicle, being used illegally or anti-socially. The owner must then pay a fine to have the vehicle released back into their possession.
“Anti-social driving is not only disruptive but also dangerous and we will not tolerate it.”
