Police have warned that reckless bikers who destroy crops and are a general nuisance to land owners near Chalk Pit, could be taken off the road due to a new scheme.
Bridlington police have launched a drive to clamp down on the number of people racing around the area and have even purchased three new motorbikes to catch such bikers in the act.
Frequent patrols have been enforced in the area by PC Simon Vickers, Bridlington south ward beat manager, who said that the bikes will help in reducing the number of irresponsible bike insurance riders in the area.
PC Vickers said:"It's causing a nuisance and upset to people who live in the area and it's being going on for a while.
"We will have the power to take their vehicle from them and those who use the area have to get the bikes there on the road, so these will also help us catch them for things like no insurance and the incorrect licence.
"And if they are riding around on people's land, then they can also be prosecuted for criminal damage."
