In Doncaster, a number of motorbikes were crushed and turned into twisted metal.
The authorities in Doncaster did this in order to drive home a point to rogue riders.
They wanted to establish it in an implicit manner that off road riders had to adhere to certain rules.
These riders were caught riding their bikes illegally without appropriate papers such as bike insurance and tax MOT.
In a joint operation that included the Doncaster police, and the Doncaster council’s environmental health team, a number of nuisance drivers were apprehended. Qualifying them as nuisance drivers, their bikes were sent off to be crushed at the Doncaster motor spares.
It is illegal to ride off-road bikes in public places. These places include parks, footpaths, bridleways, playing fields and woodlands.
On the road, the same rules apply to these bikes as to regular vehicles. Riders of such bikes are required to have their papers such as driving licences, tax MOT papers and their bike insurance papers.
The objective of this event was to make it clear to nuisance bikers that if they do not comply with these rules, they would be prosecuted legally.
In addition, their bikes would be crushed beyond repair as a deterrent for other nuisance bikers to flout these rules.
