It has been revealed that there is a rising number of women swapping their cars for bikes.

A bike insurance group stated that it has witnessed a 15% increase in the number of females seeking bike insurance cover, compared to 2008.

Research has also shown that, proportionately, women motorbike riders are safer than male motorcyclists, with fewer women involved in motorbike accidents.

Antony Aronin, Head of bikes at the firm said: “Swinton is seeing a year on year increase in the number of female motorcyclists looking for quotes. All-female bike clubs are flourishing around the country and there are now a number of websites dedicated just to women motorcyclists.

“Motorbikes are also now becoming the favoured mode of transport for some of Hollywood’s leading ladies including Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron and rock star Pink, which could also be a contributing factor to the recent surge in quotes.”
