A survey by a renowned bike insurance company has said that UK motorcyclists spend more time searching online for a motorcycle insurance quote.

Then survey polled 1,200 customers of one of the UK's leading providers for bike insurance and found that motorcyclists spent on average two and a half hours online in 2009, looking for motorcycle insurance.

The 2008 figure of the same task was on average just one and a half hours looking for an insurance policy.

The renowned bike manufacturer is attributing the increased time spent searching for a quote on financial pressures caused by last year's recession.

The CEO of the bike insurance company said: "The increased use and availability of the internet has had a massive impact on the insurance industry. Motorcyclists can now get a quote anytime, anywhere and in a short amount of time.

He also added that despite the huge demand for bike insurance quotes online, many of their customers still prefer the benefits of being able to speak to one of their bike insurance advisors.

"Last year we saw UK bikers spending more time searching for the best price, which was most likely due to the economic climate," he added.
