Car Insurance -
1.15 million drivers were uninsured last year - 21/05/2008
|
A survey by Sainsbury car insurance has shown that a huge 1.15 million people have driven whilst uninsured within the last year. Driving without insurance is legal in the UK and if caught offenders could risk driving bans, large fines or having their cars crushed.
This however does not appear to have been much of a deterrent for people who choose not to take out a car insurance policy. Common reasons cited for not purchasing insurance were people could not afford it or they did not think that it was necessary. However the implications of not having insurance can be devastating.
If you are involved in a crash with someone without car insurance claiming for damage or injuries is a very long winded and difficult process. The cost of which is covered by other motorists as around twenty to thirty pounds are added to insurance premiums to cover this eventuality. More should be done to ensure that all drivers are insured.
