Research by the Association of British Travel Agents has found that more Brits are considering going on a driving holiday this year, as opposed to their traditional week abroad.
Recent trouble at London’s airports and feeling the need to be greener may be reasons for this new trend for driving holidays. Ten percent of Brits have said they are interested in taking a driving holiday this year while a further thirty two percent have said they are thinking of going on a caravan holiday. France has always been a popular choice for driving holidays especially since the opening of the Eurotunnel.
Those considering this option should ensure that they have adequate car insurance to cover them abroad as many policies do not offer this as standard. Driving abroad requires a green card which can usually be purchased as a top up from insurers.
