Car Insurance - Eco-friendly car insurance more popular than ever - 08/04/2008

In an article published online by moneynews.co.uk it was recently revealed that eco-friendly car insurance deals have increased in popularity. Nick Dear, the external communications consultant for More Th>N insurance told the website that 22 million UK drivers would think about changing their car to a hybrid vehicle if a more environmentally-friendly car was cheaper to run.

Dear said that it’s important for insurance companies to take this into consideration when formulating new policies. A major concern of motorists is petrol prices and hybrid cars usually use less petrol and are consequently cheaper to run. Dear cites this as a contributing factor in the new-found popularity of eco-friendly vehicles.

In the US where the cost of petrol is over 3 dollars a gallon hybrid cars are incredibly popular. The American government have been backing initiatives for citizens to buy hybrid cars for years and anybody who purchased a hybrid model after the 31st of December in 2005 is eligible to claim a credit against their income tax of up to $3,400.
