There is a new car insurance policy in the market for drivers aged below the age of 26.
This new policy will give young drivers a discount of 2/5th on their car insurance policy if they do not drive their vehicle between 11pm and 5am.
Young drivers who wish to have this form of insurance need to install a special device to their vehicles in order to ensure that they are complying with the curfew period.
The device is a global positioning system that is capable of monitoring the vehicle when the car is driven.
According to a road safety campaigner, the number one killer of most young drivers is road traffic accidents.
The managing director for the car insurance company that offers this special kind of policy, says that young drivers remain the highest age group to make the greatest number of insurance claims.
He added that they contribute to the figures of the highest number of road crashes and fatalities on the roads today. With the arrival of the winter months it is essential to highlight these dangers.
A car insurance expert said that 1/5th of young drivers on the road today drive without car insurance because of the cost factor. Therefore, innovative car insurance policies such as these will be a shot in the arm for young car drivers to take up car insurance.
