The web comparison site uSwitch.com performed research to look into why driver errors caused two out of three accidents.

2500 experienced drivers participated in a basic driving theory test, the results were shocking only 1% answered all questions correctly and 34% scored less than half.

With the insight into the errors of motorists many would be unsurprised to hear due to the lack of knowledge each minute £16k worth of car insurance claims are made.

What many motorists do not consider is the knock on effect this has on car insurance premiums, each claim made add £193 to your policy.

An insurance official commented the DVLA have attempted to make the roads safer by constantly improving driving test and theory test regulations, the problem is drivers learn the Highway Code for their test then as soon as they pass they throw the book away and forget what they have learned.

Learning should be on going through the course of their driving life, also motorists forget the Highway Code is updated without discovering these changes and implementing old ones they are putting many people’s lives at risk.
