Motorists searching for a destination for their Sunday afternoon drive should pencil in Telford at the top of their list – the city has been named as the best town in Britain for motorists in a new survey by Virgin Money Car Insurance.
The Shropshire town came top of the list of car-friendly towns and cities with Newcastle, Blackpool, Dundee and Sunderland also rating highly. At the opposite end of the scale Birmingham, Liverpool, Northampton, London and Cardiff were found to be the least enjoyable cities to drive in.
The research was conducted by examining a number of motoring factors including price of petrol and parking, car crime and speed cameras.
“The UK’s 33 million motorists face many frustrations,” said Scott Mowbray of Virgin Money Car Insurance.
“Although no town or city is perfect, thankfully there are still some pockets of the country that are still suitable for a Sunday drive.”
