Motorists in the UK are risking their safety by neglecting the cleanliness of their cars according to new research. LV= revealed that as many as 24 million drivers in the UK are verging on driving dangerous vehicles after neglecting their cars.
Only 11% of drivers wash their cars every weekend and more than 50% admitted that they had never cleaned their car. The research conducted by LV= found poor vehicle maintenance means that people are not checking the basic essentials on their vehicles, women are slightly worse than men with 14% and 11% respectively admitting to poor vehicle maintenance.
55% of drivers do not check the cleanliness and visibility of their windscreen before taking off on a journey, and 84% do not check the levels of their windscreen wash. This could potentially cause accidents and not only raise the guilty party’s car insurance policy but those of other road users.
