Car Insurance - Young drivers penalised by policy prices - 18/03/2008

Confused.com has come up with shocking figures which illustrate that young drivers are penalised even when their licenses’ are clean.
The comparison website has revealed that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has to pay four times as much for car insurance policies than Pete Doherty, a junkie rock-star.
Daniel who is 18 and has a clean driving licence has to pay 367% more to insure his vehicle than Pete, who is 29 and has numerous car and drugs offences on his record.
With some insurers the price difference can be as much as 508%. These figures are based on Daniel insuring his Fiat Punto registered to his home in Fulham, West London and Pete covering his Jaguar X-Type at his Wiltshire home. Confused.com found that the quotes differed by £3,452.69 with some insurers.
MD of confused.com, Debra Williams, said: “It is frustrating that Daniel, who owns a modest car and lives a ‘clean’ lifestyle, is expected to pay a high price for his car insurance just because he is under 25 and living in London.”
