Drivers Told To Shun Deceit As Car Insurance Premiums Rise - 31/03/2008
|
Drivers have been warned to avoid stooping so low as to resort to deceit in order to bring down their car insurance premiums.
Gocompare.com, while giving the advice, reminded drivers that such false information could invalidate their car insurance policy, even as it would affect their chances of getting a proper insurance in the future.
These words of advice came against the backdrop of observation made by the website that car insurance premiums were at an all-time high, provoking worry among motorists and that it could possible make motorists more desperate for cheaper premiums.
Gocompare.com’s MD, Hayley Parsons urged those who are in need of cheaper premiums to consider and compare all options in the market, rather than opting for dishonesty.
Report recently exposed that cost of running cars by families, including insurance, have shot up by more than half in the last 10 years. The report, however, argued that this cost was exclusive of depreciation, which could take hundreds of pounds off the value of cars.
It said more people are resorting to joining car clubs, where they could hire rather than own a car, so as to beat down the cost of motoring.
The report added that for drivers to be eligible they must be over 21 years old and must have held their licence for at least 12 months. There are, in addition to those, other rules that may be introduced by each club.
The report said the cost of renting car from a club compared with the cost of owning is 75 per cent lower, and it added that even congestion charges, for those living in London, is covered by such car clubs.
