UK workers may be ignoring their finances as a result of having trouble finding a balance between work and play, research from American Express Insurance Services indicates.
The car, travel and home insurance leader released research that suggests eight out of every 10 workers in the UK overlook organizing their personal budgets because they are putting in too much time at the office.
The research team further reported that their family life is also suffering as a result of being overworked. According to the study, 45 per cent of the workers surveyed say they can’t make time to exercise, and 34 per cent can’t find time to cook a fresh meal.
The insurance group says that this may lead to a downfall in the health of the British people. In the area of financial planning, close to a third of the subjects studied admitted to feeling too pressed for time to properly investigate car insurance, home insurance, and pension schemes for their future. The insurance group’s research team further reported that 13 per cent of UK workers say they don’t have time to compare deals when faced with insurance renewal.
"We recognise that for many hard working Britons there are simply not enough hours in the day,” commented Chris Rolland, head of American Express Insurance Services. “However, our research shows many Brits are letting health, relationships and finances suffer as a result."
