Married Couples Save More on Car Insurance - 14/05/2008 |

A new study from the UK car insurance comparison service, Confused.com has found that married couples benefit from car insurance as they can save up to 1.5 times more than unmarried motorists.
This revelation comes in spite of the harsh financial reality that is discouraging marriage due to accompanying expenses. But this is a new incentive.
Married couples, the survey said, annually save about £82.70 on the average more than unmarried people or single counterparts. And in at least one case the figure went up to £228.01.
It also found that married men tend to do better than women as they save an average of £106.88 on their car insurance premiums annually, in comparison to their female counterparts with £58.51.
But it suggested that this difference could be as a result of the fact that single men’s premiums are normally higher than those of unmarried women.
Managing director of Confused.com, Debra Williams explained that in spite of the old saying that women prosper more than their out-of-pocket husbands from a marriage arrangement the new finding proves the contrary, as marrying a woman could save men a lot of money on their car insurance.
She urged drivers to look around for the best offer as she said: “However, it is important to remember that car insurance quotes can vary wildly, and so shopping around for the best bet is always advised.
“Price comparison websites are designed to help consumers find the most appropriated deal for them – whether it is the price, or a specific brand which is of the most importance to them.”
