The cost of car insurance is continues to rocket and for many it now costs an average of £100 more than it did this time last year. Already, there are warnings that it could get worse with industry experts forecasting that by this time next year it will cost another £100 more.
Reports also show that more than a quarter of consumers log onto comparison websites to compare car insurance before renewing their car insurance.
According to Northern Echo, the accuracy of the insurance comparison websites is not clear to many consumers. A significant number of them are promising to save consumers some money.
Consumers are advised to cut the cost of insurance by increasing the excess.
Additionally, £100 is fairly standard. But some quotes include an excess payment of up to £400 which can be shocking for consumers who fail to read the small print.
