Students hoping to take their cars to university have been told to expect their car insurance premiums to rise significantly.
It has been revealed that students going to university for the first time this year with their vehicles in tow could see their insurance premiums rise by as much as £1,300. The increase comes because, while many students are able to park on their parents' driveways at home, often they have to park on the street and in cities while at university. This greatly raises the chance of their vehicle being stolen or damaged and consequently makes poses a greater risk for insurance claims.
Students have been advised if they are taking their cars to university to they have cover and amend their policy where necessary
