It has been revealed that most young drivers are spending unnecessary money because they are choosing a car that falls into the higher insurance brackets. A study showed that 63% of drivers aged between 17 to 21 are seeking car insurance quotes for engines sizes more than 1250cc.
Therefore, it has been noted that male drivers are more than twice as likely to search for a modified car as female drivers.
Hayley Parsons stated that most young drivers: “still haven't got the message that 'small is beautiful' when it comes to choosing a car” and this has a “dramatic impact on your premium”.
In September, the AA found that the gender gap was widening when it came to car premiums. Premiums for men have risen, whereas it has declined for female drivers. The gap has increased by 59% since 2003.
