Car Insurance - Car Break-ins - 11/11/2008

A new study has revealed that car break-ins are increasing. It has been found that one quarter of motorists have claimed to be a victim.

It was also exposed that 80% of all drivers left valuables in their car which could be a contributing factor to the increase in car crimes. The element of risk involved as to how vulnerable a car is - is then reflected in the car insurance premium.

The study found that personal belongings such as wallets and mobile phones were frequently left inside cars to an average value of £380. Therefore car insures have warned motorists to not leave anything of significant value inside the vehicle.

As a result car insurance companies have warned that most car break-ins are by opportunist thieves and urged drivers to make sure that their car policy protected the loss of belongings in a car under such circumstances.
