A recent trend of interest in classic military vehicles shows no sign of slowing down. Car insurance provider, Adrian Flux Insurance Services has joined forces with the Military Vehicle Trust and is providing a 25 per cent discount on insurance policies for military vehicles.
In the 1960’s enthusiasts began to rescue and rebuild World War 2 military vehicles and these days show no signs of letting up. Machines ranging from tanks to motorbikes and sidecars, American jeeps, British Land Rovers and Russian armoured cars, as well as specialist vehicles such as bridging cranes.
However, a factor that is affecting the number of vehicles being restored is insurers, as they are unlikely to look at military vehicles. However, on the bright side a deal has been struck with the Military Vehicle Trust; the UK’s biggest specialist trust and its members that allows them to receive a 25 per cent discount.
Craig Darwin, Clubs Manager at Flux said: "Although the mainstream insurers don’t like them, we've found classic military vehicles to be a good risk. No one is likely to steal one, they usually don’t go too fast and they rarely do more than a few hundred miles per year. Plus these owners tend take really good care of their vehicles."
