Female car insurance holders have been urged to conduct proper research when taking out a policy by car specialists.
According HPI, many women lack confidence when taking out an insurance cover, sometimes opting for the first quote gained, when researching adequately would be more beneficial.
Although women often benefit from lower premiums than their male counterparts, it is strongly advised that further digging could reveal even more savings to compliment any driver during the credit crunch. HPI business manager Nicola Johnson claimed, "It should never be underestimated how powerful arming yourself with research … can be in boosting your confidence"
Meanwhile research conducted by RAC has discovered that many women drivers do not have adequate breakdown cover in the event of an emergency.
According to the motor insurer female motorists aged between 18 and 24 are most likely to forgo breakdown insurance increasing the risk of being stranded or having to rely on family members, friends or members of the public to assist them.
Will Thomas, head of a car insurance comparison site, says it is. "You don't realise the value of breakdown cover until you need it. It is an additional cost, but it is essential. Some people think just because they are insured, they are automatically covered, but that's a serious misconception."
