Good news for all motorists has come in the shape of Sainsbury’s car insurance which is offering 12 months premiums for the price of 10.
The insurance provider have arranged a deal that providing it’s taken out prior to August 31st 2009, two months premiums will be given free.
Joanne Mallon, Sainsbury’s car insurance manager, said: “Car insurance premiums can vary hugely so we always encourage customers to shop around for the best price and cover.
She added: “Taking advantage of our two months’ free cover is a great way of further cutting down the cost of motoring.”
This could be uplifting news for young new drivers who are trying to place their foot on the insurance ladder for the first time.
Young drivers are on average paying more than double what other motorists spend to insure their cars.
Cheaper insurance combined with the equality bill could greatly affect premiums.
Ashton Berkhauer, insurance expert at uSwitch.com, says the bill could possibly mean lower premiums for younger drivers in the very near future.
"Whether the equalities bill impacts young driver premiums or not, the most important thing is to research the cost of insurance before you buy a car," he adds.
"Young drivers must do their homework first and shop around to make sure they find the best cover and policy features to suit their needs and budget."
On average a young driver's car insurance policy costs 69 per cent of the value of their car.
