More than twelve car insurance customers will be making a claim this week after all their cars were broken into by opportunistic thieves who made away with expensive articles.

13 of the car insurance customers in Wigam could also see their car insurance policies as null and void owing to the fact that they did not secure their cars properly. In this case, the owner is at fault for not having secured the car properly.

The police team at Lancashire town is warning residents to lock their cars and secure them at all times. A simple practice like this could help them to beat crime, even if the car is just outside one’s home.

A sergeant from the Wigan Neighbourhood Policing Team said that criminals were opportunists. If their cars and vehicles were not secured properly, they could steal precious objects and articles from within the vehicle. It would only be a matter of seconds.

He also advised motor owners not to leave valuables inside their vehicles.

Another measure that motor owners can take apart from car insurance is marking their valuables with specifics such as post codes and car registration numbers. Valuables such as navigation systems, speakers and players should be marked.
