An online price comparison website for car insurance has claimed that men pay a little more than 70 percent on car insurance when compared to women.
This finding was attributed to car insurance quotes over the period of a year from June 2008 to June 2009.
The findings that were revealed in these quotes showed that men pay £885.86 average yearly for car insurance. In stark contrast, the fairer sex paid £517.37 per year for motor cover.
The head of car insurance for the website said that men have always needed to pay a higher premium than women. Women have, on contrast, always been considered by insurance companies to be mature and safe drivers.
The largest looming gap in this man woman divide came from the under 20’s age group. In this category, 18 year old men were seen to be paying an annual amount that was almost twice as much as 18 year old women pay.
The amount paid by 18 year old woman annually was £1,237.33. For the same category, young men were seen to be paying £2,318.83.
The head for car insurance with the price comparison website, further said that young men could get cheap car insurance if they shopped around and did more research.
There are plenty of companies that target young drivers which offer cheap car insurance.
