According to new research conducted on car insurance customers, almost half of UK motorists find it hard to fully understand their car insurance policies.
A large proportion of these insurance customers admitted that they do not understand all the terms and conditions stated in their car cover.
The new survey was conducted on drivers and discovered that 42% of the motorists who take out a car insurance were not confident about some of the aspects in their policies.
18% claimed that insurance providers intentionally set out to confuse them and 17% of the respondents said that they thought by owning a fully comprehensive cover they were allowed to drive any car and claim their own policy.
Another 51% of the respondents said that they did not know what material facts are and 23% had no idea what the concept of voluntary excess meant.
An insurance expert claimed that car insurance is quite complicated. So it is acceptable that wording used in the terms and conditions of the policy are complex as well.
Many drivers are known to struggle with terms used in their insurance. However, it is very important that they read and understand the policy well. This will tell them exactly what they are covered for, insurers stated.
