With their millions in bank accounts and world wide popularity, musicians are still in need of the basics in life, including car insurance.
Swiftcover, the car insurance provider has announced the premiums that certain celebrities would have to pay.
To begin with the punk rock icon Iggy Pop, who famously got himself 'swiftcovered' in adverts for insurer swiftcover.com, would have to pay nothing for his car insurance cover. The perks of fronting the promotional adverts allow for his cover, to be covered.
However, further research by Swiftcover, indicates that the jazz-funk petrol-head Jay Kay would have to stump up £35,000 to insure his rare Ferrari Enzo, while the hard rocking Foo Fighters leader, Dave Grohl would only have to pay £250 to get swiftcover.com car insurance - primarily because he drives an economically and environmentally friendly Smart car.
Lilly Allen, driving a Mini Cooper would have to pay £600 in insurance costs. A key factor to this low cost premiums because female drivers are cheaper to ensure than men.
Cover for the stars
Swiftcover.com is one of the few motor insurers to actually cover musicians, and the company has compiled its fantasy festival line-up of rock stars and their cars.
With musical icon, Madonna, driving a BMW 745, one of her modes of transport while at home in London, fitted with a tracker, her car insurance cover would her £1,000.
Again being a female driver and her age of 50-years would brings the risk of being involved in a car accident down, but the central London location bumps up the cost. Although, being chased by paparazzi could increase the chances of an accident.
Ex-Oasis member Noel Gallagher, who owns a a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 1978, similar to the white one which was pictured 'floating' in a swimming pool on the cover of the band's 'Be Here Now' album, would fork out insurance cost of around £800. (However there would be no cover for intentionally driving into swimming pools) so insurance is subject to it being roadworthy again after its bath.
R n B sensation, Justin Timberlake, driving a Jeep Wrangler would incur insurance costs of around £1,000. Apparently left hand vehicles would bump up the price, because driver will have to lean over the other side to get his burger and fries in a drive-thru.
Motor-biking around the world
However, the smooth mover is apparently among a group of celebrities who are helping to raise the profile of motor-biking around the world after being spotted clad head-to-toe in leather and riding a Harley Davidson - highlighting the need for bike insurance.
Data firm Swinton said a host of other US celebs, including Brad Pitt and fellow Ocean's Eleven actor, George Clooney, are among those taking to two wheels, motorbike insurance customers may be interested to hear.
Clooney's favourite brand of bike is said to also be Harley Davidson while Pitt has a whole range of expensive bikes, many of which are customised, made by boutique manufacturer Confederate, reports the firm
Tina Shortle, the marketing director for swiftcover.com, said: "These quotes are just for fun, but our research shows that you don't need to be a platinum selling rock god to be able to afford to get swiftcovered."
She added: "Even Madonna, Lilly Allen and Noel Gallagher could probably save on their car insurance with swiftcover.com, and of course we now insure less well-known musicians!"
Despite the figures indicated, by the insurance provider, certain celebrities above would not be able to receive the cover that could be provider, as Swiftcover, only insurer drivers who are UK citizens.
