There are three different levels of car insurance cover available to the customer; third party, third party: fire and theft and fully comprehensive. The minimum level of cover required by law is third party, which covers any damage to another driver’s vehicle or injury to them. This cover does not insure the driver for damage, loss or theft to their vehicle and property.
Third party: fire and theft offers the same protection as third party but also includes compensation for any damage to your vehicle due to fire or theft.
Fully comprehensive insurance means you are covered for third party damage, fire and theft as well as accidental damage. Any personal belongings in the car will usually be covered by this policy, although this may vary with different insurers. With fully comprehensive cover it does not matter who is to blame for the accident, your vehicle is still covered.
