Aviva has announced an amendment in its critical illness cover. This amendment will see a rise in the maximum sum insured to a staggering £2 million, a figure four times the initial price of the cover.
On the term assurance front, the number of years has been raised from 25 years to 40 years. The maximum age limit for term assurance has also been increased to 75 years and the level of free child cover has been increased to £20,000 from £10,000.
These changes have been implemented by the UK based insurance company that specialises in health insurance in order to keep abreast with the other players in the market. Previously other players in the market also provided health insurance and critical illness covers and assured their clients for a period of 40 years as compared to Aviva’s 25 year period. Also Legal and general, a stiff competitor for Aviva in the market offers a £3 million sum for assured customers.
In addition to these changes, Aviva has added five new conditions to its cover which include aplastic anaemia, cardiomyopathy, encephalitis, liver failure and progressive supranuclear palsy. The definitions of close to 12 of the pre existing conditions have been modified and refined.
