With more health insurance providers starting to offer cancer cover is it something you should consider taking out.
Medical experts have said by 2020 the number of cancer cases in the UK will be an estimated 300,000.
With the funding currently being received they are hopeful of discovering further treatments to save more lives.
This all seems in vain for some as at the moment as advanced drugs that are available are being used in Europe, but are not available through the National Health Service (NHS). The survival rate of cancer in the UK is one of the worst in Europe.
Western Provident Association launched a scheme earlier this year. The scheme pays for cancer drugs that are not available through the NHS but that have been approved by the European Medicines Agency, it will pay a lifetime maximum of £50,000.
With this scheme you will still receive care from the NHS but it covers the costs of private treatments and much needed medication.
If you are considering taking out cover it is worth hunting the market and comparing what each provider offers.
