Recent reports state that the health insurance market is on the verge of being shaken to its core with the introduction of a new top up payment service to be used for hard to purchase specialist drugs in the very near future.
The Association of British Insurers have released early plans which hint at a possible introduction within the health sector. These new plans could help patients take advantage of new drugs and treatments not available on the NHS. The top up’s will be introduced to the public at large, fronted by leading health insurance companies who will ensure the scheme is accessible to all.
The head of health at the ABI, Nick Kirwan, was reported as commenting: "All of us potentially might get cancer and may want to have these drugs. Without insurance there is very few people going to be able to afford these drugs and insurance is something that would make them available to just about everybody."
