An American drugstore operation has announced that it will be offering free clinic visits to those without health insurance, it has been revealed.
The firm, Walgreen Co, will provide tests and treatment for those who have lost their jobs and health insurance after March 31st.
Unemployed Americans and those without insurance will benefit from receiving free healthcare treatment in its 300 walk-in clinics across America.
However, the firm stated it will not provide its patients with free prescriptions, checkups, vaccinations or injections.
Hal Rosenbluth, chairman of the Take Care Health Systems division stated that the move is experimental as Walgreen is unaware of how many patients they will see and how much the service would cost the firm.
However the firm expects that the move will generate greater attention for its 341 clinics.
According to Pali Research analyst, Robert Summers, the move is "a rather expensive way to drive awareness of the company's in-store healthcare clinics."
Furthermore, with Americas growing rate of unemployment, the cost of the service is expected to rise.
The move will take place until the end of the year with its free services being offered from 11am to 3pm Monday-Friday at its 341 Take Care clinics across America.
