Men are doing more to take care of their teeth in comparison to women a new report shows.
According to Tesco Dental Insurance, 67 per cent of women said that they have spent a certain amount on looking after their teeth in the past year. However 74 per cent of men stated that they do take the time and finances to look after their own teeth.
In addition, 45 per cent of women have not had a dental procedure, because of the costs involved.
However, men have also been seen to be as thrifty as women are, when it comes to their dental health. Men were three times more likely than women to extract their own teeth if they felt that they could not afford to visit a dentist.
Jeremy Sutton, head of Tesco Dental Insurance said, "Dental treatment can be expensive, in some cases costing £86 for an extraction. Tesco Dental Insurance helps to manage the cost and covers for routine NHS and private dental treatment."
He added that: "Given the current economic situation many people are worried about spending money. Receiving important dental treatment is essential to overall health as well as oral health."
