It is being alleged that women around the world are being denied an opportunity to develop their full human potential.
This is owing to a lack of healthcare that women do not get access to in their entire lifetime, according to an insurance study.
This report is one of the first attempts on behalf of the organisation to highlight the issue of gender disparity when looking at medical care and health insurance over women’s lifetimes.
According to the report, women tend to seek medical services more often than their counterparts. This means that they are likely to need health insurance more often. This is more true when in their child bearing years.
In addition to pregnancy, they fail to get access to healthcare and medical treatment for various other conditions. They need health insurance cover in cases of violence, depression and old age related problems.
The worst hit and most deprived women happen to be commercial sex workers, marginalised women, unwed mothers and teenagers.
There are an estimated 500,000 child birth related deaths that take place every year the world over. Out of these, 99 percent of deaths occur in developing countries.
