According to a report from an health insurance company, at least one out of five employers are offering their employees a flexible benefits package.
This is being done as a way of attracting new talent and also as perks for existing employees.
The majority of employers who have flexible benefits programmes for employees, currently say that it was introduced for employee attraction, retention and motivation, instead of cost-cutting.
The survey was conducted on 360 employers across 13 sectors. Unusual benefits that were uncovered included skin cancer screening and vehicle benefit packages.An insurance expert said that it has been a difficult year for both employers and employees.
Therefore, companies who want to provide cost-effective perks to employees who are doing a good job in these tough circumstances, can use flexible benefits packages to deliver tailored benefits.
Statistics from the annual flexible benefits show that companies which are offering permanent health insurance has increased a great deal in the past year.
This benefit is currently being offered by 67% of the flexible benefits schemes, compared to last year’s 23%.
Dental insurance is the second most popular health benefit being offered by 92% companies, while health screenings are being offered by three quarters of companies.
