It has been revealed that a young student couple are struggling to find health insurance cover.

The problem is that the male suffers from bipolar disorder and also a shoulder that can dislocate at any time. Without medication, his mood varies greatly.

However, when the couple got married last May, he was dropped from his parent’s cover because insurers viewed him as no longer a dependant.

Ten different health insurers have rejected him because of his pre-existing conditions, therefore he is without cover. His wife does not make enough money to pay for his medical expenses.

“Because his medical records show a diagnosis of bipolar, it was like they (the insurance companies) wouldn’t even talk to you,” she said.

The couple are still trying to find cover.
