“Life is not a bed of roses” is a famous saying. It is full of challenges, which can come suddenly in our life in any form, anytime and anywhere without prior notice. To deal with these odd and difficult days is not an easy task but with some future planning we can overcome any adverse situations in life without spending a huge fortune.
Health insurance or medical insurance is a savior which can relieve us in our most unfavorable days, the days when our health is seriously affected due to an accident or disease. Health insurance plans will tend to ensure that when treatment is required, that plan holders will have access to top facilities and treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be available.
We may lose our source of income - our job - due to a medical condition - but with a medical policy we can insure getting the best treatment possible when we need it without paying huge medical bills. Without a health insurance plan we could end up with some serious debt and untreated health issues which can worsen the situation.
Having a medical insurance policy covers us in the eventuality of serious illness such as cancer, heart disease, and other medical conditions, that require urgent and effective treatment and where waiting lists on the National Health Service would be more than six weeks.
Private medical insurance can help us through a range of serious situations. This is particularly criucial for self employed individuals, especially those that have families to support.
There are many types of private health cover available to suit a wide range of needs but before finalising any policy, make sure you know what is covered, what is not covered and from when the coverage will commence.
For those of us in the UK there are essentially 3 health insurance policy types (with various internal policy groupings within) available:
Comprehensive Health Insurance Cover: These policies are designed to pay out for the widest range of medical needs possible at any time.
Self pay and Co – Pay private health care: More and more people are paying their own way for their health care in the UK when they do not wish to rely on the NHS; the health tourist is increasing year on year.
There are plans available that can limit your liability to excessive bills either by sharing the cost of your private health care treatment or by offering a stop loss insurance to limit your liability. These low cost plans can offer a competitive alternative to traditional medical insurance for those with savings set aside. Cash Plans: Cash Plans are low-cost health insurance plans that are in place to provide cash for the policyholder’s medical expenses. These could include dental, optical or nursing benefits. Cash Plans can cost as little as £100 a year and they will pay you a cash sum for every night you spend in hospital, whether you are receiving Private of NHS treatment.
“Health is wealth” and taking care of it is important. Good health is not only important to lead a happy life but it is also necessary to live our life to its maximum potential with happiness and fulfillment. The quality of health care has immensely improved, but it has also resulted in increased medical care costs.
With a proper medical policy we can cope with any situation easily and bear the expenses in case of any emergency.
