Claims for accidental damage are likely to rise by one-fifth in the next couple of weeks as Wimbledon fever grips the entire UK and homeowners inflict damage on their homes and properties, warned Halifax home insurance.
Overzealous people may get carried away and get their rackets out in the garden and or remove indoors and in the process result in damage.
Those living in Birmingham and Solihull are most likely to end up damaging something, said the insurance firm.
Next to them are people living in places like Harrow, Uxbridge and Wembley.
“During the summer months we often notice an increase in claims for broken windows and other accidental breakages,” said David Rochester, head of underwriting for Halifax Home Insurance.
Urging home owners to be more careful as the try to copy tennis stars within the vicinity of their homes, the expert also advised them to make sure they take out adequate home insurance that would include cover for accidental damage in case things went wrong.
In addition, Mr Rochester called on homeowners to put all their valuables in safe storage to prevent causing damage to them as the play tennis.
