A man from Norwich is bathing in his kitchen sink this week after his home insurance company failed to replace his missing bathroom floor.
Tony Alessi, 38, made the home insurance claim after the floor of his shower stall became unsafe when a leak caused the floor to rot.
Mr Alessi had the work approved by his insurers, Norwich Union, in January and the damaged shower floor was removed last week. But since then, a mix-up with the insurer’s building contractors has left Mr Alessi with a hole in the bathroom floor and no washing facilities throughout the recent hot weather.
“It just seems like there are so many companies involved that there has been a breakdown in communication,” said Mr Alessi.
Norwich Union has apologised and promised that the work will be completed immediately. They have sent Mr Alessi £100 in compensation and offered to put him up in a hotel whilst his bathroom floor is resurrected.
