The Financial Ombudsman Service has recently released figures revealing that the number of home insurance complaints have increased in the last 12 months.
In the year 2008-09, The Financial Ombudsman Service reported 3,447 complaints relating to home insurance and another 1,671 complaints relating to home contents insurance.
This is up from 2,669 and 1,363 complaints which were recorded for both these categories in the previous year.
The report which has been formulated by the service, stated that this increase in complaints regarding home insurance do a lot to hint towards the general recessionary environment.
Due to tough economic times, both consumers and insurance companies are paying a great deal of attention towards their respective financial situations.
RatedPeople too, has recently advised home insurance policy holders who are taking a tougher financial line, to follow some simple measures which can enable them to bring down their home insurance premiums.
One of the measures suggested by RatedPeople was to fit new exterior locks on both doors and windows which will improve the general standards of security in the house, hence bring down the cost of home insurance premiums.
