Home Insurance - Tesco offers half price home and contents insurance - 22/04/2008

There are only days left to apply for this offer from Tesco. Open until the 30th April 2008 all new customers can get their home and contents insurance for half price. If you phone up and get a quote by the 30th April, you then have 90 days to take up the offer.

The offer is such good value that Alan Burns, head of home insurance says that you should phone up and get a quote even if your home insurance is not due to expire. “This is one of the best offers currently available in the market. It is a considerable saving and worth your getting a quote even if your policy doesn't expire in the next few months”.

Those who take up the offer will get their home and contents insurance for half price for the whole first year of the policy. It applies to customers who apply online or over the phone and combines a number of discounts. An introductory 30% discount for phone applications and 35% discount for online applications plus an additional discount takes the total saving up to 50%..

The insurance covers buildings up to the value of £1 million, including the cost of alternative accommodation if needed and damage relating to forced entry by emergency services. Any damage to your house by fire, theft or weather conditions is covered, as is vandalism and subsidence. .

Contents covered are equally comprehensive, with all the standards such as jewellery and home appliances covered as well as cash, contents in the garden and even items in your freezer are covered..

It seems that despite the cheap deal, Tesco are not cutting corners with their insurance to cover their costs. Obviously after one year your insurance will double, which may come as quite a shock to your finances, however, the contract is only for one year, so when the half price deal ends you are free to shop around for another cheap deal. .
